5th Grade: Object Color Wheels
Color has been the word of the quarter in our 5th and 6th grade classes. We have been studying the color wheel, color relationships, and other color studies.
For this project, the 5th grade classes were allowed to draw any object they wanted. We then divided our paper into six sections and painted those sections to create unique color wheels.

Students also learned about complementary color relationships when painting the backgrounds of their pieces.
6th Grade: 3D Color Wheels (Art and Science Lesson)
Our 6th grade classes recently finished up a color study subject: 3D Color Wheels.
This project was inspired by a light box project from the Amazeum here in town.
The object of this lesson was to learn about the color wheel system and light, color, art interactions.
But the fun part? They look amazing when placed in front of different light sources!
Take a look at the finished products as well as our process:

5th Grade "Fall Leaves" Collaboration Project
Our 5th grade class recently finished up an oil pastel project where they each designed three leaves inspired by the season. The students cut their leaves out and all the classes attached them to a tree made from paper created by the students for an awesome, seasonal installation project. Enjoy!
6th Grade "Fall Tree" Oil Pastel Drawings
Here are some images from our latest 6th grade project inspired by a combination of Roxy Paine's "Yield" and the fall season:

Our 6th graders have been working hard this week on their drawings inspired by still paintings by Giorgio Morandi. We learned about adding value in our drawing with shading and stippling techniques.

Intro to Drawing Week
Our introduction to drawing week went extremely well!
5th and 6th grade students worked on a step-by-step cartoon, comic-style comic drawing of a knight. An army of knights were created as hundreds were drawn!
The students will be taking theirs home this week so you can see their amazing skills in person. Our classes showed 100% success and I am pleased with the results.
Our goal from this activity was to show the students how they can make interesting, easy, and fun drawing by simply working with shapes and lines.
My goal was for every student to discover their own individual talents. I am looking forward to future projects with all of my class.
